Just a quick update

When I went down to NC with my family to visit some friends, I lost the hook I need for my blanket. I've searched, my friends in NC searched...nothing. Today we went to a yard sale and I got a baggie of misc. hooks in it. Now I have a replacement for the one I lost and can work on my blanket again.

Note: When I went to start working on my blanket again, guess what poked out of the skein of yarn? Yep, you guessed it! My other hook!

this post has absolutely nothing to do with crochet but i just have to share this formula with you:

10 ghirardelli double chocolate bittersweet chips {or a little less, i made it one other time and it was too much} + 1 spoonful swiss mocha instant coffee + 1 spoonful of viennese chocolate cafe' instant coffee + spoonful of confectioner's sugar {unless you don't like it to begin with} = bliss

and i don't really like coffee. but this...

Butterflies and Flutterbies

I was taking a movie back to the library when I noticed a magazine in the free box. It said "Crochet Patterns", so of course, I just had to check it out *winks*. I started looking through and the first thing that caught my eye was a pattern for little butter-flutters. I didn't even look any further. If only for that cuteness, I thought, I have to get it!.

This week-end we are having a Garage Sale (today is the last day so hurry up :-D ), so I made some butterflies to sell (I haven't sold any yet. Come buy some.). By using different size hooks, and different yarn, I made different sizes. I actually used embroidery floss for the little ones. If you want to look up the pattern, it's by Judy Teague Treece.

5 things

This post doesn't have much to do with crocheting, but I just wanted to say...

1. I haven't forgotten about about my blog even though I haven't posted. I just don't have any projects to post about. Yet. I am working on one, and I will post about it when it is finished (no hints!)

2. It may be awhile before the project is finished. But I will post as soon as it is done.

3. My birthday was Saturday. I turned 14. Just thought I'd let ya know. I "pink puffy heart" my sister. She made a blog post about me for my birthday :-)

4. I won 2nd place at the Fair for the little purse I made for my cousin (I only entered one)

5. I'm hungry

Patterns and Purses

We went to Ollie's Outlet Store on July 5th, and I got a book called "The Colour Book Of Felted Crochet". It has over 25 projects, that you make with wool yarn, then felt it. It also teaches you the basic crochet stitches, and some fancy ones as well. One of the fancy stitches is called the "Fan Stitch", which is what I used to make the purses. I made up the pattern as I went along.


Here is the pattern:

You will need:
5.5o mm crochet hook
2 colours of yarn (This doesn't take much yarn)

For the purse:

Ch. 40. Work 4 rows of fan st. using col. A. Chg. to col B. Work 2 rows of fan st. using col. B. Chg. back to col. A. Work 3 rows of fan st. using col. A. Finish off.
Fold in half. Start in corner and sc. both edges together along the bottom and up the side. Do NOT finish it off yet. Ch. 50. Attach ch. to other side (this is the handle/strap). If you want to decorate a bit more, you can weave a piece of yarn around the top edge on either side and tie the ends in bows on either end.

For the change-purse:

Using col. B, Ch. 11. Starting in second ch from hook, *sc across (10 sc in all). ch one*. Rep from *to* ten times, not chaining one the last time. Finish off. Do this twice. Using col. A attach the 2 squares you just made by sc on two sides and the bottom. There ya go! If the instructions aren't clear, or you have any questions, just leave a comment :-)

Of Blankets and Head-bands

At the Young Ladies Meeting (YLM), the crochet lesson was a pillow. We were going to make eight of the squares with flowers on them, so that's four on each side of the pillow. Well, I decided to turn mine into a blanket, making 56 flowered squares, and 56 granny squares, so, that's 112 in all. For one blanket. I'm making two. These blankets will be twin sized. I have a bunk-bed, so I have two twin beds. That's why I'm making two blankets. I have around 15 flowered squares done, and 3 granny squares done. I've a long way to go!






























Of course, I can't just work on the blanket non-stop, so I do a couple other projects in between.
The picture on the left is a white head-band. The picture on the right is some flowers I made to pin on the head-band. This way, it matches pretty much everything.

Greetings! Welcome to Off The Hook Crocheted Creations! If you read my other blog you know who I am. If you don't... My name is Ada, a.k.a. Ada Potato, a.k.a. Tater or Tato (short for Potato) I am almost 14 years old. I am home-schooled. I have great parents and an awesome sister.

What got me interested in crocheting? Well, a few months ago, one of the ladies in our church decided to start a Young Ladies Meeting, for young ladies in our church . Once a month, we would meet and play a game, have a study on one of the women of the Bible, and then a crocheting lesson. So, I took off from there.

On this blog, I will mainly be posting about crochet projects I am working on, with perhaps some links to patterns I like here and there.

So, now that you know all about this blog, lets move on to the projects...
